For warranty compliance, most door and window manufacturers require shimming their products. However, installing door and window units with traditional wood shims is, at best, a cumbersome and time consuming process. Plus, wooden shims have a tendency to dry out, warp, split, crack, and break leaving door and window units sagging or sticking.
